Coronathon Turkey brings together those who create and develop solutions to the issues related to COVID-19 pandemic and provides a platform for actualizing these innovative ideas.”

Following up our numerous collaborations in the past with Başlangıç Noktası, we provided the ethics component for their Coronathon Turkey initiative.

As AI Ethics Lab, we contributed to the initiative by offering ethics consultation to the 12 projects that won grants.

The process started by evaluating the proposals that the teams have initially submitted. After our team of experts in AI and ethics completed their initial ethics evaluation, they conducted 45 minutes interviews with each team. During those interviews, ethics risks of each project were determined and their possible solutions were discussed. After interviews, our team re-analyzed the projects and concluded their final evaluation indicating the existing and possible ethical risks that each project poses. The final evaluations were sent to the project teams for their use and referral.

An Executive Summary of the most prominent ethical risks that the projects pose is available here.
